  • We work with UK based arts and cultural organisations and artists to capture live arts performances, extend the audience reach of arts or cultural work and create great arts experience using digital media, content and platforms. We do this through commissioning projects, offering development support, training events and resources. As commissioning rounds and training events are announced, the information will be included on this website.

  • We run commissioning rounds each year. You can apply to a commissioning round if you meet the commissioning brief that we publicise at the time, and if you are a UK based arts or cultural organisation or an artist(s) working in partnership with an arts organisation. If you are successfully shortlisted in the round, your project will then go through a further process where we engage with you around the needs of the project and how we can support it and whether together we feel we can find an audience for the work. If your project then gets ‘green lit’ we will support you with funding and development plus guidance to get your project live. Even if your project is not successful in that specific round people tell us that the process of going through it can help them hone their ideas, get advice etc.

Whether you apply for our commissioning rounds or not, if you are UK based and working in the arts you can access our free resources and events (our full events programme will be launched soon), which are designed to help develop skills and experience in using technology and digital media in making and distributing great work.

  • We post details of any commissioning rounds on the website here.

  • You will need to read the brief and, if you feel your project or concept can meet the brief, put forward a detailed written application. You can apply online via this site. If you have any queries about the commissioning round please email [email protected]

  • We run learning events, which are listed on the events section of the website, or do explore our online resources which are being updated all the time.

  • The Space was founded and is funded by the Arts Council England and the BBC. Creative Scotland, the Arts Council of Wales and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland fund and support our commissions in the Nations.

  • We post job opportunities on our LinkedIn page or on the News section of this site, as they become available.
