John Peel’s Record Collection
C is for Cabaret Voltaire
Music legend John Peel’s record collection, one of the most celebrated in the world, is being made into an interactive online museum.
Every week on The Space, details of some of the 25,000 vinyl LPs will be revealed 100 albums at a time, starting with ‘A’ and working through to ‘Z’. We’ll also be turning the spotlight on one of those artists each week.
This week, John Peel’s wife and Patron of the John Peel Centre for Creative Arts, Sheila Ravenscroft, introduces the selected artist for the letter C, Cabaret Voltaire. They had 12 albums within John’s Collection and Stephen Mallinder, founding member, recalls how the band began, their influences and what it was like to be chosen for The Peel Sessions.
