Twelfth Night
From April to June 2012, Shakespeare’s Globe brought theatre companies from around the world to perform all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays in 37 languages. The Globe to Globe season was part of the World Shakespeare Festival for the London 2012 Festival.
Twelfth Night is no longer available but you can still see some of the Globe to Globe plays featured on The Space.

THE COMPANY
The Company Theatre was founded in 1993 with the sole aim of promoting theatre-related activities. They recently toured their radical reinterpretation of Hamlet. Atul Kumar, their artistic director, is trained in the traditional Indian dance and martial art forms of Kathakali and Kalerippayattu.
THE PLAY
Twins Sebastian and Viola are shipwrecked on the coast of Illyria, separated and believing each other to be dead. Viola, disguised as a boy, serves Duke Orsino and is sent to woo Countess Olivia on his behalf. Olivia falls in love with the cross-dressed page, while Viola loves Orsino, and mischievous servants play pranks as each other’s expense. A chaos of mistaken identity ensues, finally resolved in marriage as twins and lovers are reunited in this musical and dance-rich interpretation.
