From April to June 2012, Shakespeare’s Globe brought theatre companies from around the world to perform all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays in 37 languages. The Globe to Globe season was part of the World Shakespeare Festival for the London 2012 Festival.

OTHELLO – THE REMIX

Performed in Hip Hop by the Chicago Shakespeare Theater and presented in conjunction with Richard Jordan Productions. Written, directed and music by Q Brothers. Developed with Rick Boynton.

THE COMPANY

The Chicago Shakespeare Theater is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and has gained a reputation for staging vibrant productions that reflect the Bard’s rich storytelling and interest in the human condition. The company strives to share its uniquely American blend of Shakespeare reinterpretations with the world.

THE PLAY

Othello, general of the Venetian army, has married Desdemona, whose father is appalled that his daughter has married a Moor. Othello, renowned for his military prowess, is too valuable to Venice to be reprimanded. He takes Desdemona on his mission to Cyprus, where Iago’s bitter plotting parts fool from money, officer from office and husband from wife.
