From April to June 2012, Shakespeare’s Globe brought theatre companies from around the world to perform all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays in 37 languages. The Globe to Globe season was part of the World Shakespeare Festival for the London 2012 Festival.

THE COMPANY

The National Theatre Company of Mexico was founded in 1977 to promote theatre on a national scale in the country. It has some 40 permanent members and performs both classic and new works, with an emphasis on Mexican playwrights and staging.

THE PLAY

Henry IV is an insecure king with rebellion on all sides. Prince Harry, known as Hal, heir to the throne, disappoints his father with his drinking and rowdy companions, including the cowardly but entertaining Sir John Falstaff. When the prince has to go to war to defeat his rival Hotspur, he proves himself as a soldier and a leader, and begins to leave his miscreant friends behind.
