Introduction
CountryBoy’s Struggle: Contact’s new series of storytelling music videos which mix hip-hop and comedy, to tell the story of Michael Crompton, a man on a journey to become an MC – from the cliffs of Cornwall to the streets of London. Get a flavour of the fun to come in this short film and follow the plot on The Space every Thursday from 5 July.
Written and starring Maxwell Golden, who plays over 40 characters in this tour-de-force performance, the series explores the tensions between what is meant by ‘rural’ and ‘urban’ and attempts to create a bridge between these two worlds. In 2011, CountryBoy’s Struggle toured to both rural communities and theatre studios across the UK, with rave reviews from schools, colleges, theatres and village halls.
