Contact’s series of storytelling music videos mix hip-hop and comedy to tell the story of Michael Crompton, a man on a journey to become an MC – from the cliffs of Cornwall to the streets of London.

This opening instalment chronicles Michael’s formative years and family background, while the story will continue to unfold every Thursday on The Space.

Written and starring Maxwell Golden, who plays over 40 characters in this performance, the series explores the tensions between what is meant by ‘rural’ and ‘urban’ and attempts to create a bridge between these two worlds.

Countryboy’s Struggle is directed by Baba Israel, Artistic Director of Contact and Richard Ramchurn of Albino Mosquito with music by Danbeats.

In 2011, CountryBoy’s Struggle toured to both rural communities and theatre studios across the UK, with rave reviews from schools, colleges, theatres and village halls.
