From April to June 2012, Shakespeare’s Globe brought theatre companies from around the world to perform all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays in 37 languages. The Globe to Globe season was part of the World Shakespeare Festival for the London 2012 Festival.

LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST

THE COMPANY

London-based theatre group Deafinitely was founded in 2002 and is a deaf-led company, with productions made from a deaf perspective and aim to empower deaf culture and identity. Productions are created in British Sign Language (BSL) and English, while BSL is retained as the main language.

THE PLAY

At the court of Navarre, the King and his three lords vow to stay away from wine, women and luxury. But when the princess and her ladies from France arrive, their resolve weakens. As each gives in to his affections and breaks his oath, they all try – unsuccessfully – to keep their love secret from each other.
