Artist Martin Boyce, musician Raymond MacDonald and film maker David Mackenzie have been collaborating under the title Scarecrows & Lighthouses over the last 2 years. They have made seemingly random forays out into the world, to Baalbek in Lebanon, to Paris, and to the Scottish island of Barra, a three man pod of creative hunger, experimenting with notions of work, travel, identity and specialisation.

One of the works they have created together is Scarecrows Triptych which was originally shown as part of a larger work at Tramway, Glasgow in February 2012. It marks a brief moment of consolidation in a process that spanned an 18 month period, it is an attempt to collate and collapse their creative journey rather than produce a conclusive piece. The work was made in a truly collaborative manner with each member of the trio working and sharing in each others specialisations.
