On 19th August 2012, theatre company Northern Stage took over a 19th Century church to present a series of work as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The varied programme comes together under one heading: ‘Made in the North of England’, which challenges and questions what the north represents in the 21st Century. It’s a short hop over the border for the Newcastle-based theatre company, known for developing and promoting new and daring theatre.

Best In The World, is a heart-warming journey featuring true stories of success, live darts and our own personal triumphs. It is performed by Alex Elliott and was written by Carina Rodney. The idea of ‘what’s it like to be the best in the world?’ is explored, pivoting on Phil Taylor’s triumph in the 2010 World Darts Championship.

You can watch how the idea was conceived here.

You can watch on demand recordings of three of the performances here. Find out more about Northern Stage at St Stephen’s here.
