MACBETH – MAKBET

Performed in Polish by Teatr im Kochanowskiego
(with subtitles in English)

THE COMPANY

It was founded in 1975 with the construction of the Jan Kochanowski theatre in Opole, which was the country’s largest theatre at the time. It has since become a place for bold and avant-garde theatre to be staged, and for artistic risks to be taken.

THE PLAY

Victorious soldiers Macbeth and Banquo encounter three Witches, who predict that Macbeth will take the Scottish throne and Banquo’s children will succeed him. Driven by a desire for power and spurred on by his madly ambitious wife, Macbeth plots and murders his way to the throne, where he is plagued with guilt and hounded by his enemies.
