Coming soon: Royal Opera live
On Monday 7th January from 10.30-21.30, The Space will be broadcasting live from the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Watch the live stream here.
Star tenor Rolando Villazon explain what will be going on. Unprecedented behind the scenes access include rehearsals of the new production of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Birtwistle’s The Minotaur, a masterclass with the Royal Opera’s Music Director Sir Antonio Pappano and Villazon’s own pre-performance preparations ahead of playing Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Boheme.
The day climaxes with an exclusive exploration of what happens behind the scenes at a performance at the Royal Opera House via 21 cameras, with Act III of Wagner’s The Valkyrie which was recorded earlier in the season.
On The Space, you can choose to watch the action from three different perspectives – backstage, with the stage manager’s calls, lighting cues and all the stage technology in operation, join conductor Antonio Pappano in the pit, or pick the wide-angle of the action on stage.
